Tool Calling

Tool calling lets a model trigger external actions — running a web search, calling an API, reading a file, executing code. The model decides when a tool is needed, calls it with the right inputs, receives the result, and incorporates it into its response. This is how AI moves from "knows things from training" to "can actively do things in the world."
