Personal ChatGPT or Claude for Work Slides? Don't Leak Company Data

Use your personal AI for a great-looking work deck without sending company data outside: a generic prompt with placeholders, the data added on your work laptop, and design changes without ever re-uploading the filled file.

In this tutorial

  • Anything you paste into a personal AI tool goes to that provider's servers, not just your laptop.
  • Confidential, internal or sensitive data belongs only in tools your company approved.
  • Ask your personal AI for a generic template with placeholders, then add the real data on your work laptop.
  • Never re-upload the filled deck: speaker notes and hidden content travel with the file.
  • Check both preconditions with your security team first: personal AI for general work, and opening outside files at work.

unPaper converts HTML slides into PowerPoint locally in your browser. Your chosen AI receives whatever you paste into it; its data policy still applies.

Imagine that you are working on a personal project at home, and you're asking Claude or ChatGPT to prepare a presentation. In two minutes, the slides which otherwise would take you a day to prepare are ready. And then it's Monday. You go to work. You open in your company laptop and understanding that there is a client meeting happening at 1PM for which you should be ready with a slide deck. The only problem is that your company approved AI is not great for slide creation. And then there is ChatGPT and Claude tab there in the browser.

In this video, I will show you how modern AI tools like Claude, ChatGPT, Gamma AI, Beautiful.ai, and others actually work, and how to make sure that you are not clicking sensitive data. Before I start making slides, there are a couple of important points to make. There is a concept of company approved environment or company approved perimeter. What does it mean? So normally, when you're opening the company laptop, work laptop, you have some tools which are already either preinstalled or your company allow you to use these tools.

Good thing about this tool, such as Copilot for work, there may be other tools, is that in reality, you are not thinking about which type of data you're pasting there since by default, let's say, normally, all the data is allowed to be used with such tools. As a result, you're pasting the data into Copilot for Work. You're getting a nice PowerPoint presentation, and everything is fine. You are not leaking your company data anywhere. Everything stays within the company approved perimeter. There is a problem which may happen, that potentially your company approved environment does not allow you to create a nice looking slide decks, or you tried Claude, ChatGPT, Gamma AI, Beautiful AI, and the result has been amazing, and you would like to have something similar, but to use it with your company data.

So what is important to note here and what we'll be doing in this video? First of all, if you are having anything confidential, let's say you're having confidential or sensitive prompt, and you would like to use your private AI, you cannot actually paste this prompt into these tools. Because in the end, the information contained in this prompt will go to the servers of these companies, will go to the server where large language model is running, and you are basically losing control of this data. Even if, in the end, you will receive a nice looking slide deck with sensitive data because it's based on sensitive data, you just leaked the company data, which is not nice.

So what you can do instead, and this is what we'll be doing in this video, and there are just couple of notes to make here. So first of all, your company security policy should allow you to use your private AI tools for not confidential internal sensitive data. So in general, this tool should be allowed to be used. And second, if you have created some kind of artifact, let's say, PowerPoint presentation with these tools, you should be able to open it on your company laptop. So these are preconditions.

We'll be doing the following. In order to avoid leaking the company data, we will be using these private AI tools with prompts which do not contain any kind of confidential data. As a result, the results in PowerPoint deck created with these tools will also not contain any confidential sensitive data. We will be sending them on the next step these documents into the company approved environment. So let's say we'll be opening them from our work laptop, and only there, we will be filling this deck, this template generated with the private tools with some sensitive data.

As a result, this deck will be converted in our approved environment into the deck which contains this confidential data. So that's the main principle. And with this, we'll begin. In order to demonstrate you how to create the slide decks with your private AI in a way that you are not leaking your confidential data, we'll be using a fictional example. Imagine a situation that you're working in the company, and this company is trying to purchase an office building in the UK, and the information about the purchase is, of course, confidential, especially the purchase price, which has been negotiated, the starting purchase price, and, actually, the final purchase price as well.

And let's also imagine that we're already in the final stage of the transaction when things are ready, and we just need to have a final approval in order to proceed to the next steps, including signing of the purchase agreement. What we can do in order to use Claude to create the slides without leaking the confidential data? So here is the prompt which we will be using. So the idea is very simple. We need to have a prompt which does not contain sensitive data. At the same time, this prompt should instruct Claude to create a nice slide, which will later work on our work laptop.

The prompt is the following. By the way, to create a prompt, you can use another chat assistant, the one which you have approved at work, asking it to create a prompt for Claude or for ChatGPT where instead of confidential data, you'll have some kind of placeholders. And just please treat it really seriously because even the fact that you are purchasing a building or if you are selling a building, for example, can be already sensitive data. In the first part, we are saying that we are asking it to create a reusable four slide PowerPoint template for an office building purchase decision.

Then we are saying that the audience is internal leadership team. I'm asking it to leave all bracketed placeholders as literal text. So the placeholders, like recommendation, rationale, decision requested, purchase price, and so on should be just left like that as placeholders. So leave all bracketed placeholders below as literal text. Do not invent values, locations, company names, market evidence, or financial advice. Leave speaker notes empty. And then I'm actually saying that this is how I think the slide deck, which includes four slides in this particular example, may look like.

I see it as a first slide about the decision requested, and this is the data I would like to see there, a recommendation, rationale, decision requested. Then the second slide about the building with building name, address, floor plan, negotiated price, and next steps. So all the elements in the placeholders Claude will leave as placeholders, and then we'll open it on our work laptop and insert really confidential data there. So as an example, I have also a table prepared here in Notion with the confidential data. So, for example, the recommendation, which Claude will leave as a recommendation later on the work laptop will be inserted in this way, proceed with the purchase.

And so on. The table is here. I will close it for now. What we will do? We'll just copy the prompt, and I will go to Claude. And inside Claude, in the new chat, I will just paste this prompt. By the way, I do not even need to tell it to switch to creation of the slides in Claude. I just paste the prompt like that, and Claude will create us a nice looking deck. Claude is coming back with the results, and it gives us basically everything we requested.

You can see these are four slides with decision requested, the building, negotiated price, and next steps. And you can also see that all the important elements, they are left as placeholders here. So this was a work done on your private AI. You just took the prompt, which contains no confidential data, and in the end, you receive a slide deck, which contains no confidential data. By the way, the link to PowerPoint files and to the prompt is available in the description or in the pinned comment. Now we will go to the next step.

It's working with the slide deck on your work environment. I will download the slide deck. It will be saved as PowerPoint, and let's open the slide deck. So as you can see, it's already a nice PowerPoint with some editable elements. You can basically modify all the text, all the boxes. You can reorder the slides. You can add additional slides if needed. So on the second step, we will populate this slide deck with a confidential data from Notion. So I have confidential data here. I will just now move on this confidential data into the PowerPoint.

So as you can see, we have filled in all the confidential data into the deck. And now if we need to modify something, you should be really very aware that the modifications from now on, you should be doing only on your work laptop. You may have an idea to actually just save this deck and put it back into Claude, and let's say, ask to move the office building image from left to right. But the proper way to do it, and it's, of course, very simple example.

It can be something a lot more complicated. The proper way to do it is actually the following. You go back to Claude, and here, you are saying something like this. On slide two, please move office building to the right. So as you can see, Claude has successfully modified the slide deck, and slide number two now contains exactly the sealant of the office building to the right as we want it. What we can do now, we can once again download the information in the PowerPoint format. We will open this PowerPoint with a new slide.

And what we will do, we'll just copy this slide and insert it into our previous PowerPoint presentation with the source formatting here. So as you can see, we have our old slide, which is populated with confidential data and this new layout. Now the only thing we need to do is to move the confidential data from the old layout into the new layout. And one additional note I would like to make. Imagine that you have sent the slide back to your boss, and your boss have reviewed all of the things.

And just for yourself, he or she added the following note. The note I have prepared here, confidential note. The note will say, nice job. Better than expected. We still have a buffer up to GBP 12,500,000. So this confidential note will relate to this slide, and your boss is pasting this comment here in the notes. Then he or she saves the deck and sends you back. The problem is that, actually, you may potentially do not even see this confidential note because depending on your PowerPoint, it may be opened or it may be hidden.

And then the most important element, if at some stage you would like to modify this slide outside of your work environment and you have a temptation to just, let's say, copy the slide, then create a new slide deck in a new presentation. Paste it here. Let's delete the slide. And maybe you will just delete all the information which you think is confidential from the slide deck, including this one. You are saving this deck, and then you are sending this information to Claude. You will also send this small note here, which is actually the most confidential information in all the slide deck because it can represent an interest for anyone who knows the process and who gets access to this data.

So I hope the process is clear. In order for you to be sure that no confidential data is leaked outside of the company approved perimeter, what do you need to do? On the first stage, you're preparing a prompt, and you double check with your approved AI that this prompt does not contain any sensitive data. Then you go to Claude, and with this prompt, ask it to create a generic slide deck. After that, you download the generic slide deck and open it on your work computer. By the way, you can maybe send it via email.

It all depends on the way which is approved in your company. So then you open it in your work environment, add all the confidential data there. If you need to change something still, you go back to Claude, modify it in Claude, you get it back again to your work environment, and then you reuse it in your slide deck with the confidential data. Another option to create slides without your data leaving the company approved environment is a project I contribute to called unPaper. It helps you to configure a design prompt which you paste into the AI you already use at work.

The resulting slides can be immediately presented or converted into editable PowerPoint. What is important, at no stage, your data is leaving the approved environment, and even conversion is happening in your browser. It is free for individual use, including at work. The link is in the description. Thank you for watching, and I'll see you in the next video.
