Significant changes are happening in the way we are doing our work. Here I mean the office workers or the knowledge workers especially and in particular how I currently do my work at work and also at home. Let's take some concrete example. Imagine that someone is approaching you through LinkedIn with a direct message and asking you for an interview. They share with you a description, maybe some other documents and wait for your answer. So imagine that you are currently searching for a job or maybe open to the new opportunities and you receive not just one message like that but a number of such types of messages.

So what I would do today if I would need to create a kind of a long term project of a job search or exploring the opportunities, I would do the following. I would ask Claude or any other chat systems which has access to your files which can create and delete and move files in your system. I would ask it to brainstorm and create a folder structure which will be able to support me in this journey for let's say the next year, let's say 12 months. I will maybe describe briefly that potentially there will be different versions of my CV, different offers I receive via LinkedIn, different kind of companies which are approaching me or which I approach and so on.

So I describe these problematics and ask Claude to generate a folder structure which will help. So the folder structure is generated. Then I'm saying okay let's move on and here is the first message I received. This is the company, this is the job description. Can you please check for the information about this company, about the positions in this company and in general some information which can help me in this process. And I'm saying that the artifacts, so let's say the result of the work, please not just provide here in the terminal but create the files.

For instance it can be Word documents, it can be Markdown files, it can be maybe even PowerPoint slides and save them in the folder so you think it's relevant to save them. So Claude will work, let's say for 15-20 minutes, research the topic, do some magic in the background and then create these files. I have as a result the files which are stored in my system in a nice locations so that I can later be able to check and read and maybe even modify it. The key mental shift is the following.

So instead of just chatting with the chat assistant, you are changing the way you are working with chat assistant. Chat assistant is actually creating artifacts, is tracking the history and it's up to you how you will structure this folder. And just believe me that in three, six months you will look at this folder and you will see that everything is structured, everything is yours and you are in full control.
