How to stop ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini from training on your chats: three switches. ChatGPT: Settings → Data controls → "Improve the model for everyone" off. Claude: Settings → Privacy → "Help improve our AI models" off (with it on, chats can be kept for up to 5 years). Gemini: Activity → "Keep Activity" off (on by default for adults). The back door in all three: thumbs up or down can send the whole chat to training anyway. For one private question, use the temporary or incognito chat. At work, company data belongs in your company's approved AI.
