In this video, we'll use a new tool released by Anthropic called Claude Slides and convert a handwritten notes, which you can take, for example, during the conference into the slide deck in the format of your choice. For context, I'm Alexey Makarov, and during my corporate career, I have built and presented thousands of slide decks both with and without the help of AI. In my videos, I'm putting together my professional experience and latest and greatest AI tools to which we now have access. Today, we will be creating slides with the Claude Slides.
Claude Slides became available couple of days ago together with the docs and slides as you can see on the screen now. In order to access it, you should go to claude.ai. And there there are a couple of buttons here on top. As you can see, one is Claude Code, we'll not be using it today, and another one is Claude chat and Cowork. Inside chat and Cowork, be sure to select not chat but Cowork. And under Cowork, you'll be able to see the thing called output. If you click on it, you'll be able to see docs and slides.
We will be working with slides today. So let's select slides. We will use the fictional example, and the example is the following. Imagine that I went to the conference on 09/19/2026. It was about AI. And I would like to come back to my team and tell them about the most important things I have heard on this conference. As you can see, I took some notes for the team update. First one, look at open weight models for team pilot. Second one, downloadable weights models is not the same as open source and so on.
The idea is the following, that I would like, first of all, to convert these notes into text, and then based on text to create two, three slides for my team update. So let's do the following. We are going to Claude. And first of all, we can actually, by the way, use just chat now. We don't need slides in the beginning. So what we'll do, we'll do just the following. We will drag and drop on the note, which I just showed you. It's just a photo which I've done with my iPhone And paste the following prompt.
Please transcribe these handwritten notes as a short list. Mark anything you cannot read as unclear instead of guessing. And do not add facts or make slides yet. We are doing it just to understand that Claude can actually recognize the things well. So notes, AI conference, September 19, and so on. Everything was legible. Nothing needed to be marked as unclear. So let's just copy it and then go here and start a new chat. In the new chat, we'll select Cowork, and in the output, let's select slides.
I will first of all prep paste the note which we copied. And then with the shift enter, I add couple of lines. I add these kind of characters so that I have a separation between the note and the instruction. And I I'll pass the following instruction. Instruction is actually quite simple. There is nothing crazy here. Create a three-slide presentation from the notes above for the context. This is an illustrative conference follow- up for a fictional company. So, of course, I should give a bit of a context and what I want to achieve with Claude Slides.
I have three minutes to update a team of non technical colleagues. The purpose is to explain the practical considerations of open weight models and per and propose one small pilot, if you can. Make the distinction between downloadable weights and open source AI clear without turning the this into technical lecture. So I think this is actually enough. We have a text of the note, and we have some instruction to create the slides. I have selected here Opus 5 High model which is which is really good and I think it's the best one which we can have as of today.
And by the way, I'm on a pro subscription. Claude Slides are not yet available on the subscription which is not paid. And even if it would be available there, just believe that the limits are consumed so quickly that you'll not be able to create a lot of slides there. And let's start creating. So it asks me the first question. It would like to create an artifact. So artifact in this case is gonna be slides. And I'm saying yes. There is even the address, the web address, where this artifact will be available if I will decide to share it.
But at the same time, like now we're not doing that. We're just saying yes, create the artifact and Claude starting to create the slides. So as you can see now, it asked me for the second question. You have one design system saved, design systems, but it isn't marked as a default. Should the style deck use it? Actually, no. I do not want to use it. I'll say no. Because I would like us to create a slide deck from scratch. Imagine that we have no design system available.
We're just starting opening claude.ai, going to the Cowork tab, selecting that we are creating slides, and moving on like that. As you can see, Claude is working already for more than two minutes. I will speed up the recording. And as you can see, Claude created the slides. There are three slides as we requested. They have kind of different colors, different styles. But what we'll do now? In the end, let's just go and see what it is. So the first one is the AI conference, September 19.
And by the way, you so what is cool about Claude Slides is that you can not just look at it and then comment and ask to change something, you can do it yourself. So for example here, you can change the elements, you can add something, which is actually super cool. You can move the boxes and do some other stuff. So what we'll do now? I like the results. Let's read the titles. Two things that sound the same. Downloadable weights, open source. Running a model ourselves is a project, not a download.
Okay. This is also quite good. And one low risk pilot, then we decide on evidence. So in the end, these are the three points which I wanted to communicate to my team. This is quite good, but let's imagine that you do not like the format and that in your company, you have completely different format of slides and you would like Claude to use it. There are different ways to do it, but a pro tip for me, the one which I actually always use, is to just use screenshot.
So let's imagine we are using the following format in our company. So this is just a fictional slide deck. Let's say this is kind of a type of the slides which we are having. And I would like Claude to use this type of format. So let's do the following. Let's open, for instance, this first slide, and I will make a screenshot. Just making a screenshot of this slide. And I will go back to Claude and I will say I will paste with the control v or command v if you're on Mac, the slide.
And I will say, can you please use this style? We are having it in the company. And let's press enter. Of course, in the end, the design which Claude has created is not that bad. But what I don't like is that one background is light, another one is dark, and so on. And in the meantime, so let it work. That's actually the best way to use your design system. Of course, if you're technical enough, or if you have ever created branded guides for your company, it may not be very difficult for you to go to Claude Design and create a kind of standardized scheme for your company, for your slides.
You need to indicate their colors, you need to choose fonts, and so on. But I find it a lot more easier just to make a screenshot and ask Claude to do it. And I think Claude has done its job. So it's saying that all three slides are rebuilt on the template from your screenshot. So let's see. We can see that the first slide, the second slide and the first slide, they have very, very similar structure. And if we go to our example, it's exactly the structure which we are having here.
Of course, it's not ideal. All the slides look the same. But at the same time, in order for you to create something in the format which you're using inside your company, first of all, can provide different examples. But in the end, the best way to work with this result is actually the following. I would just like to download this file in PowerPoint format. So let's go here. I'm clicking here. I'm going to PowerPoint. And I'll use PowerPoint with current fonts. I'll save file on the desktop.
And I will open the document. As you can see, this is the PowerPoint where all the elements, including, for example, these slides, they are all editable. So it has no screenshots pasted, which some other companies or chat providers save a new PowerPoint by just making screenshots. That's not the case here. As you can see, you can work with it, you can type some things, you can move the boxes and modify everything you want. So let's summarize what we have done today. We took a handwritten note and first of all converted it into text.
Then we went to the Claude Slides and asked it based on this note to create some slide slides in generic format without actually saying which kind of format we're expecting. And on the last step, we attached a screenshot of the slide format we would like to have, and Claude Slides made the magic and presented the slides in exactly this format. From my experience of teaching AI in the real world, not a lot of people are actually using the screenshots. It's one of the most important element of your work with AI.
So if you want to explain anything to AI, and you can make a screenshot of your screen, of part of the application, or of anything you would like AI to understand, just make this screenshot, attach it to the AI assistant of your choice, and ask a question or ask to do something based on the screenshot attached. I personally use it every day. What if you do not have access to the latest frontier models at your work, but still would like to benefit from the speed and quality which AI tools are giving you in the creation of the nice looking slides?
This is exactly the question I had and the reason project unPaper AI exists. All you need to do is to go to unPaper AI and with couple of clicks configure a prompt which will tell to your approved AI at work how to create nice looking slides. The result you can see on the screen. You can convert it into PowerPoint or just leave it in the HTML format and present it during one of your meetings or calls. And the coolest thing of it all is that at no stage when you're using unPaper, your information is leaving your secure environment or approved AI.
On the first stage when you're creating the prompt, you are just basically pasting some text into your approved AI and your approved AI is creating the slides. And on the next stage when you're converting it into the PowerPoint, the conversion is happening client side in your browser and there is no need for your information to travel anywhere for you to get the fully editable PowerPoint deck. If you're interested, go to unPaper AI. The link is in the description and on the screen now, and try to create your first prompt.
Thank you for watching, and I'll see you in the next video.
